The Blanchard triplets graduated from Howard Payne University in Brownwood on May 8. The new college graduates are (L-R) Brian Blanchard, summa cum laude with a major in pedagogy; Erin Blanchard, magna cum laude with a major in business; and Ben Blanchard with a major in history while minoring in kinesiology and he received an ACE certification. RISD retirees honored

Three teachers, who are retiring after this school year, were honored May 6 at a Recognition Reception in the Commons of the Rockdale Junior High School. Two of the teachers, Lorrie Birkhead (L) and Dawn Byrd were on hand to get their thank you awards while Lisa Flores, who is retiring after 43 years in education with 23 of them in Rockdale was unable to attend the reception. Birkhead is retiring with 33 years in education, 28 of them in Rockdale, and Byrd has spent all 31 of her years in education in Rockdale. Birkhead and Byrd said they plan to spend time with their families and to relax, but they will still be out supporting RISD. Submitted photo

The Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Anchor of Serenity which recenly joined the Chamber. At the ceremony were (L-R) Leesa Perez, Hannah Farris, Krystal Vickers, Charlie and Pat Watson, Yashica Molfett and Terry Young, the owner. Anchor of Serenity is a counseling service for addiction, mood disorders, depression and anxiety. The website is www.anchortoserenity.com. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and it is located at 1524 W. Cameron. Submitted photo
