Glorify God this Thanksgiving

Glorify God this Thanksgiving

We are all guilty of this. It’s Thanksgiving Day, your house is packed, and you’re rushing to get the turkey out. Thanksgiving turns into day of gluttony and the day loses its reverence and power.

The Rockdale International & Great Northern Railroad Depot & Museum is open again after being closed since the first of the year and it had added some items to its collection. One of the added items is this ticket cabinet filled with things it would have had in it years ago when train stations were bustling places. The cabinet is from the collection of the late Bert Dockall, who was a charter member of the Rockdale Historical Society. The museum is currently open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. For information or to join the historical society call 512-446-2956. Reporter/David Money

Stash It

They came in droves to stash their trash Saturday at Fair Park. Some brought a little; some brought a lot to the annual event that is usually held in April, but was delayed to October because of COVID-19. “The good thing about this is, it keeps people from dumping,” City Manager Barbara Holly said as trash was loaded into large metal trash bins, seven in all, by front-end loaders and a backhoe. Public Works Director Jerald Brunson was on hand as city employees from his department unloaded trash from the many vehicles lined up for the event. Reporter/David Money
