STAR SPANGLED SALUTE
STAR SPANGLED SALUTE— The Communities in Concert band played in Cameron last weekend at the July 4th Celebration on the square around the courthouse. While fireworks were not allowed, the band playing patriotic music kept everyone in a festive mood. Cameron and Rockdale trade the July 4th events each year and Cameron put on a great show this year with lots of games and water activities like a waterslide, water balloon toss and a duck pond to help keep cool in the Kid Zone. The celebration comes back to Rockdale for 2023.
‘BAPTISM’ FOR BRETT
‘BAPTISM’ FOR BRETT— At the first weekend of the Backyard Farmers Market a dunking tank was a popular attraction. Here, Mayor Brett Boren gets a soaking from a young shopper. If you look closely, you can see the bean bag on its way to the target. Rockdale has been under an Excessive Heat Warning for the past two weeks with temperatures over 100 and the heat index even higher. This is expected to continue for the foreseeable future. The Reporter thinks Mayor Boren probably enjoyed cooling off with these temperatures.
