On Tuesday, the Texas Association Basketball Coaches released their pre-season rankings to the public with Thorndale ranked 11th in Class 2A.
Former Rockdale Tiger teammates Torry Locklin (L) and Cam’Ron Valdez (R) had the chance to catch up after their respective Big VII teams Kansas and Texas Tech met up in the Sunflower State on Saturday afternoon. The Red Raiders defeated the hosting Jayhawks 41-14 in a game where Locklin, a 2018 graduate who helped lead Rockdale to it’s first state title in 41 years, had three carries and eight yards. Valdez, who holds Rockdale’s record for most rushing yards, also had some playing time as well with one carry for - 4 yards. Submitted photo
Last Wednesday morning, the Tiger cross country team (above) composed of (L-R) Chris Perez, Chris Miles, Seth Davis, Jose Tenorio, Cristo Hernandez, Jesus Bocanegra and Yovanney Delgadillo secured the team’s third straight trip to the Region III meet in Huntsville with a second-place finish. Sophomore Bocanegra took home silver with a time of 17:20.9, while Hernandez rounded out the top five with a time of 18:04.3 and Delgadillo placed eighth with a 18:19.8. For the Lady Tigers, sophomore Ciara Miles (left photo) qualified for her first trip to regionals with a time of 13:11.9. All eight RHS student athletes will run next at Kate Barr Ross Memorial Park on Monday, Oct. 25. Miles’ race starts a 8:15 a.m. while the Tigers start right after at 8:45. Submitted photo
